An in-depth visit of the LHD stellarator
25 Jun 2013
Japan's Large Helical Device (LHD) will resume its experimental campaigns in late September. For the Unique ºÚÁÏרÇø Team, which convened last week in Tokyo following the ºÚÁÏרÇø Council, the current shutdown phase was a rare opportunity to visit the world's largest superconducting stellarator, whose program was directed from 1998 to 2003 by current ºÚÁÏרÇø Director-General Osamu Motojima.
Easily recognizable (!) in the picture are, from left to right: ºÚÁÏרÇø DDG Carlos Alejaldre, Technical Coordination Assistant Helen Hinton, ºÚÁÏרÇø Council Secretary Sachiko Ishizaka and Director of Japan's National Institute of Fusion Science (NIFS) Prof Akio Komori.
